Alan Wake 2 Will Get New Gameplay Plus Post-Launch, With Alternate Narrative

Alan Wake 2 is released later this week, continuing the story of the original 2010 psychological thriller. For those who can’t get enough of the horror cult classic, there’s more good news: Alan Wake 2 is getting a New Game + mode post launch, complete with an alternate storyline.

The planned approach was announced by the official Alan Wake 2 account on Twitter, with Remedy Games adding that the release time for the update has yet to be confirmed. It does share some details about what we can expect from New Game + in Alan Wake 2, however.

Like other games, New Game+ will allow players to keep all of their weapons and upgrades from the start of their new playthrough. There’s also a new Nightmare difficulty mode, and an alternate narrative is on the way, complete with new Manuscript pages and video content.

Alan Wake 2 continues the story of the titular writer Alan Wake more than ten years after the original game was released. The sequel leans heavily on survival horror, while also adding a second playable character to the mix.
