Apple releases iOS/iPadOS 17.2, watchOS 10.2, tvOS 17.2

With iOS and iPadOS 17.2, you can take advantage of the new Journal app that allows reflection and gratitude.

Anyone with an iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max can also get Spatial Video playable on the upcoming Apple Vision Pro.

You can download the update by going to Settings > General > Software Update on your iPhone or iPad.

This update introduces Journal, a new way to reflect on life’s moments and preserve your memories. This release also includes Action button and Camera improvements, as well as other features, bug fixes, and security updates for your iPhone.

– Journal is a new app that allows you to write about small moments and big events in your life so you can practice gratitude and improve your health
– Journaling suggestions make it easier to remember your experiences by intelligently grouping your outings, photos, exercises, etc. into moments that you can add to your journal
– Filters allow you to quickly find marked entries or show entries with attachments so you can revisit and reflect on important moments in your life
– Scheduled notifications help you maintain a consistent journaling practice by reminding you to write on the days and times you choose
– Option to lock your journal with Touch ID or Face ID
iCloud sync keeps your journal entries safe and encrypted in iCloud

– The translation option for the Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to quickly translate phrases or speak to someone in another language

– Spatial video allows you to capture video on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max so you can relive your memories in three dimensions with Apple Vision Pro
– Improved Telephoto camera focusing speed for capturing small distant objects on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max

– The catch-up arrow allows you to quickly jump to your first unread message in a conversation by tapping the arrow that appears in the upper right corner.
– Add sticker option in the context menu allows you to add a sticker directly to a bubble
– Memoji updates include the ability to adjust the body shape of any Memoji
– Contact Key Verification provides automatic alerts and Contact Verification Codes to help verify that people facing unique digital threats are only messaging the people they intend to

– Rainfall numbers help you stay on top of rain and snow conditions for one day in the next 10 days
– New widgets let you choose from next-hour rainfall, daily forecast, sunrise and sunset, and current conditions such as Air Quality, Feels Like, and speed in the air
– Wind map snapshot helps you quickly check wind patterns and access the wind map overlay to prepare for forecasted wind conditions in the next 24 hours
– The interactive lunar calendar allows you to easily visualize the phase of the moon on any day for the next month

This update also includes the following improvements and bug fixes:
– Siri support for private access and data logging in the Health app using your voice
– AirDrop improvements including expanded contact sharing options and the ability to share boarding passes, movie tickets, and other qualifying passes by pairing two iPhones
– Apple Music’s Favorite Songs Playlist lets you quickly return to songs you’ve marked as favorites
– Using Apple Music’s Listening History can be disabled in a Focus so that the music you listen to does not appear in Recently Played or influence your recommendations
– A new Digital Clock Widget allows you to easily find the time on your Home Screen and while on StandBy
– Improved AutoFill identifies fields in PDFs and other forms that allow you to fill them with information such as names and addresses from your contacts
– New keyboard layouts provide support for 8 Sámi languages
– Sensitive content warning for stickers in Messages prevents you from accidentally displaying a sticker with nudity
– Qi2 charger support for all iPhone 13 models and iPhone 14 models
– Fixed an issue that could prevent wireless charging in some vehicles
