Disney will soon officially own all of Hulu

Well, it’s about to be official: Disney will soon own all of Hulu, and will also take over the remaining third owned by Comcast. Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox four years ago. the deal is done in the works for some time But it will reportedly be effective from December 1.

according to variety, “(Disney) estimates it will pay Comcast approximately $8.61 billion, representing a one-third share of NBCUniversal’s $27.5 billion guaranteed floor value for Hulu that was set when the companies had entered into its agreement in 2019,” the figure is subject to change based on the ongoing valuation process, the trade notes. Additionally, “Disney will share with NBCU 50% of Disney’s anticipated U.S. tax savings as a result of the acquisition of the Hulu stake, with payments expected to be made primarily over a 15-year period.”

No immediate changes confirmed yet for Disney+ and Hulu subscribers in may this year Disney indicated plans to eventually consolidate all of its content into a single streaming app, including Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+; No word yet on what the price tag might look like on that. In May, Gizmodo reported that Disney CEO Bob Iger saw streamlining as a way to “eventually lead to a more unified streaming experience”.
