Payday 3 Dev Gives An Update After Messy Launch

It’s no secret that Starbreeze shooter Payday 3 has had a rough start since its launch two months ago. But since then, the dev team has focused on fixing the game’s issues and is now giving players an update on where things stand.

In a Payday 3 blog postThe team wants to assure players of its “top priority, which is to get the patch we promised you and to ensure that our patching process allows us to continue publishing it at a consistent cadence of coming.”

As the post continues, Starbreeze acknowledges that its fan base may be tired of hearing the same thing, and to help be transparent with its community, the studio revealed that it is working on the following:

  • The first patch has been shipped and is currently undergoing a testing and certification process. We’ve made a commitment to our players to maintain consistency across all platforms, so this is an important part of that process.
  • The reason it took so long to prepare the first patch was very long and complicated, but the short version is that we found critical errors in our update pipeline shortly after the game was released. There is a significant risk to player development that will be eliminated if we do not address this and ensure a stable testing environment.
  • We’ve seen a lot of your feedback about the development system. Our designers are looking at how the system can be adapted to balance the challenge system as well as offering evil points for each heist, and we’ll be back with more information on how it will look soon.
  • Once we can consistently deliver patches, the team will also deliver on our plans for additional content for the game. Expect to see free content updates for the game before the end of the year, we’ll share more information on what it will be when we get there.

Some of the issues Payday 3 has faced since its launch include playing offline several times a week and server issues, making the game have “slow matchmaking.”
