WhatsApp now allows users to block spam directly from the lock screen: Here are the steps to enable the feature

WhatsApp, owned by popular messaging platform Meta, has launched a new feature allowing users to block spam directly from their lock screen. This update aims to tackle the increasing prevalence of spam messages and give users more control over their messaging experience. Spam messages have long been a concern for messaging networks like WhatsApp, flooding users with unwanted messages ranging from promotional offers to fraudulent schemes. By allowing users to take actions directly from their lock screen, WhatsApp aims to enhance user privacy and security while promoting a more seamless messaging experience.

The new feature enables WhatsApp users to identify and block spam messages without having to unlock their device or navigate through the app. When a spam message notification appears on the lock screen, users can now long press on the notification to access several options, including the option to immediately block the sender. WhatsApp also displays a secondary prompt to report the contact.whatsapp spam block whatsapp inline whatsapp spam block

Notably, WhatsApp already shows a warning note below the contact details of any unknown number from which you receive messages. This is followed by options to add the contact, block him or report and block him. In addition to these direct options, you can predefined block Contact. In the More options section on the home page, go to Adjustment , confidentiality , blocked contacts , Add > Search or select the contact you want to block.

Users are required to register their phone number on WhatsApp. Anyone with your contact details can send you a message on WhatsApp. However, this remains a privacy concern. The company is reportedly working on a way to allow people to connect on the platform without exchanging phone numbers.

WhatsApp will also soon support cross-platform messaging, which will allow users of different messaging platforms to text on WhatsApp. There will be a “Third Party Chats” section available to users on the app’s home interface, which will show messages received from users on other platforms separately from in-app chats protected by WhatsApp’s E2EE encryption.
