YouTube now allows monetization of videos with breastfeeding nudity and ‘non-sexually graphic dancing’

YouTube has updated its guidelines to allow new types of content to monetize adult content, including videos showing nudity while breastfeeding and non-sexually graphic dancing.

With this new update, creators can now earn more ad revenue on breastfeeding content where a baby is in the video, even if the areola is visible. In the past, these types of videos could only be monetized without the areola. The company updated policy says that content where a woman shows a hand expression or using a breast pump with visible nipples and a child in the scene is eligible for monetization.

The platform will continue to restrict ad revenue on breastfeeding content without a baby. The policy also notes that breastfeeding videos must include contextual references to breastfeeding, such as a baby about to breastfeed or actively breastfeeding.

The Google-owned video platform says it has heard feedback about how breastfeeding videos can be a helpful resource for parents, and it wants to offer creators who upload them ability to monetize their content.

“We’ve heard feedback that for many parents, breastfeeding videos are a helpful resource as they navigate this stage of parenting. We hope these changes will provide all creators more space to share this type of content with eligibility for ad revenue,” said YouTube spokesperson Nate Funkhouser in an email to TechCrunch.

As for the second part of the changes, YouTube has removed restrictions on content that focuses on dance moves involving grinding or twerking, which means that this type of content can now earn money in the ad. However, the company will still restrict the monetization of dance videos with deliberate and repetitive shots of breasts, butt or genitalia, scanty clothing and sensual movements that mimic sexual acts.

Despite these new changes, all content must still follow YouTube’s community guidelines, and for monetization purposes, advertiser-friendly content guidelines.

YouTube has reassessed the content that is now eligible for monetization and turned on the ability to show ads on eligible videos.

The policy change announced today isn’t the only one YouTube has made this week.
